Mini-review: 12 Feet Deep

Two sisters trapped beneath the cover of a swimming pool is an unpromising premise for a film.  But somehow there's enough drama to keep you from turning off while you ponder their occasionally annoying lack of resourcefulness. The missus and I both found ourselves yelling at the screen alternatively giving instructions and in my case, wishing a vampire or werewolf would turn up.

Things do pick up when a third party enters the scene, but that character's motivations are all over place and it's hard to figure out if they are poorly drawn or genuinely that flaky.

Tonally, the film does move around a bit, unsure if it's a drama or a horror film. The cast do a fine job with relatively thin material and it is competently directed.
